I spring, You Spring

We are all but recent leaves on the same old tree of life and if this life has adapted itself to new functions and conditions, it uses the same old basic principles over and over again.

There is no real difference between the grass and the man who mows it.

Puff Daddy

I've been cursing the clouds all week while planting...today

                                            These are the good ones!

Out

The cat is out of the bag.  Our cat has been a terror lately.  I think she's lonely but she's also a "one cat town" kind of cat.  She played with this bag for almost an hour, even after diving into it and hitting the leg of the end table.  I love how the handle frames her eye!

Crabby

I always thought the crab apple tree kind of got a bum name.  It's so beautiful and crab just doesn't seem fitting.

Hussle

I have an affection for a great city.  I feel safe in the neighbourhood of man, and enjoy the sweet security of the streets.  ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Nesting

Kildeer nest.  They are so good at camouflage, even though I know where the nest lies I can't find it occasionally.

A great blue heron "heronry".  There are many nest being built on a friend's farm.  I can't wait for the brood to appear.

Duck Duck Goose

We began filling the irrigation pond and already two pairs of ducks are scouting out places to build nests.

Home Schooled

The old School in Antelope, OR.  The town was established in 1871 and was once a thriving community.  We noticed they were restoring the inside of the school but don't know if it will remain a school or will be turned into a community center for the now, 59 residents of the town.

Hey Buddy

The trees are budding in the garden and spring is on it's way.
The rain has been relentless for the last two weeks.  I need to get into the field but the rain is postponing my job.  Living in the desert is very complicated.

I

Kolache ~fabulous cream cheese, raisin, and poppy seed pastry.  It's a shame I must drive 60 miles to eat this delight.

Czech This Out

Today we went to a pork BBQ dinner with our cute Austrian friends that live up the hill.  The people putting on the pork fest are from the Czech Republic and the food was amazing.  I loved the atmosphere, the company, and the music.  It's days like this that remind me that I shouldn't take for granted the older generation and the knowledge and stories they have to share.  Our friends are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s and each holds a place in my heart.

Ahhh Nuts

Last night I chatted with an old high school friend and I realized how everyone deals with nuts in their lives.  Some of us were born to them, some of us are related to them, some of us are married to them, some of us are friends with them, but most of us are just accepting the nuts because that's who they are.  Acceptance is forgiveness and although forgiveness doesn't mean you have to include them, it does make dealing with them a bit easier to swallow.   Unfortunately, some nuts taste better and some nuts are better for us, finding out which is which is the hard part.

Owl City

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep

'Cause they'd fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay
Awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems

'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance
~Fireflies lyrics by Owl City

Foxy

Fun bookstore in Omaru, NZ.  I loved the feel of this little town.

Working at the Car Wash

I don't know what it is about the car wash but I love the wax colors.  I love the way it reminds me of a painting.  Each time the outcome is different and exciting.

Storm's a brewing

Yesterday I was out in short sleeves, sunglasses, getting a bit of a tan.  Today, it's cold miserable, snowing on occasion and windy!  Spring has it's way of keeping you on your toes.

Helens

I took this photo way back in 2006 on a flight to Seattle.  We were delayed one day due to fog on our way to Georgia, so we decided to fly through Seattle the next day.  I took this photo out of the window on a whim and I loved how it turned out.  All the detail you can see on the rim, the area just below that remained after the blow.

Tiny Tots

A place for tiny tots.  I found these old swings a sad reminder of yesteryear.  I spent countless hours swinging on swings, going so high the chains would slack and you'd jar your spine as it caught.  Begging your sister or brother to give you an "Underdog" so you could ride instead of "pump".  Those were the good old days.  Now, kids sit inside and "fake swing" on the Wii.  There's something about swinging with your stomach on the seat, like a superhero flying, which caused you to have to hold your breath and left red welts.....but that's the way it was and we liked it!

Paint Me A Picture

Painted Hills, Oregon. This was a day where we planned to take a drive, woke up didn't want to do it but said we were going to do it, so we did it anyway but were glad we did it.  We've all had those days and sometimes being a person who's a stickler on plans (previously known as the "scheduler" by friends) pays off.

Good Friday, Kind Sir

About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"

April Fools

Mother nature has pulled a prank, winter is back.  Some of us are taking it better than others.
