It's all in the pronounciation

We are blessed to live so close to a magnificent river.

The Deschutes River is known wide and far.

Rivers

The Rogue River

Give me the joy of a day on the river
And I'll not ask for more:
the gentle rhythm of soft waves lapping
An everchanging shore.
Past fields and villages, velvet lawns,
Curtains of sweeping willows,
A soft breeze whispering through the reeds,
White sails a-billow.

Mountain Mornings

I love mountain mornings.  Unpredictable, cool, foggy, and quiet.

Livin' off the land

Arrowleaf Balsamroot
Balsamorhiza sagittata

Cheyenne Indian boiled roots, stems, and leaves, and drank the decoction for stomach pains and headaches; they also steamed the plant and inhaled the vapors for the same purposes. Ripe seeds were pounded into flour. The fleshy, edible roots were often eaten raw or boiled.

Toys

Our siblings.  They resemble us just enough to make all their differences confusing, and no matter what we choose to make of this, we are cast in relation to them our whole lives long.  ~Susan Scarf Merrell

Puff the Magic Dragon

I drove by this carnival ride ready to head out of town and loved the colors, the size of the dragons, and their silly little smiles.

A Walk

A sweet walk to the base of South Sister.  I love the romantic feeling of walking alone in the forest.
If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking.  Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk.  ~Raymond Inmon

I watched a pair of butterflies flurry and flutter into the sky.  For a short while all my troubles disappeared.

Hidden

I think we all feel like hiding away some days.
People laugh when I say I'm an introvert.   But it's true, I prefer  a lazy day in my room reading, writing, quilting or taking long hikes alone with just my thoughts.

At the Drag strip

Our friends have asked us to come to the drag strip several times but we've always been out of town or had other plans.  Today we finally made it to the track.

I love the fast pace of the races...one after another.

Hooky

I headed off to see a mountain.
The first 10 miles were a breeze....except for the part where I thought I was lost and couldn't find the trail.
The last 2.5 miles were a challenge.  My feet were tired and I had worried myself into thinking I might be lost.  At least I knew to head for Hoo Doo mountain and eventually I'd find the road.

My last landmark was Square Lake.  I was very happy to see this lake...I knew I only had 2.2 miles left.
All in all, the view of Three Fingered Jack, Martin Lake, Booth Lake, and Square Lake were beautiful.....all while playing hooky.

Night Light

As I walked into the house last night,  I loved how the light from our walkway solar lights looked on the cement.

As spirits roam the neighborhoods at night,
Let loose upon the Earth till it be light...

The Bees Goes On

It's the last day of bee research in Central Oregon for awhile.
The bees will be moving on.
We came, we counted, we laughed.

We tasted some sweet honey.

Visions of Summer

August is filled with sights, sounds, and tastes of summer.
Summer brings such great opportunities for making lasting memories.
And before we know it, September comes and harvest begins.

The trees are God's great alphabet:
With them He writes in shining green
Across the world His thoughts serene.
~Leonora Speyer
Alone with myself
The trees bend to caress me
The shade hugs my heart.
