Calypso Music
Scott & I took a drive on Sunday afternoon to the Metolious River. Our intention was to check the status of Morel hunting. We found a few but more importantly we found this beauty. I've missed seeing calypso orchids as they are abundant in the mountains near my hometown.

Five Days Frost Free
We're now 5 days without frost. Sunny days always get the juices flowing and then we'll get a few days of frost and there goes your garden. We know this but we can't fight the urge to get going.

Bumbling Into Spring
Bumble Bee Nesting Boxes
We decided to help the native bee population by making some nesting boxes
Added a vestibule for the bees and the back is the nesting area with vent holes
Added some straw and a little batting
The scientists in us included a plexiglass viewing opportunity
And we added a landing rock in the time.
Once the tree leafs out, this will be a perfect place for the bees.
Let's hope they come

Sunshine
Days that are gloomy, chill and wet
My brighten ere the sun has set.
When life seems dismal, don't despair;
Happiness may be waiting there.

The Curate's Egg
We have all heard the expression, "like the curate's egg-good in parts"
But do you know how it originated?
Well, it was derived from a cartoon showing a candidate for ordination having breakfast with his bishop. The bishopexpressed the opinion that the egg the curate was eating was bad.
The curate, trying to be diplomatic replied,
"Oh, no my Lord. Parts of it are excellent."
