Now and Zen

The obscure we see eventually.
The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer.

Structure

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.

Floating By

When ideas float in our mind without any reflection or regard of the understanding,
it is that which the French call revery, our language has scarce a name for it.

Wasting Time

Every time we walk along a beach some ancient urge disturbs us so that we find ourselves shedding shoes and garments or scavenging among seaweed and whitened timbers like the homesick refugees of a long war.  ~Loren Eiseley

Depot Bay

We love Depot Bay and the water spouts that hit the port walls never disappoint.

We have yearly pictures from this same spot since 2001.
Why do we love the sea?
It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.
~Robert Henri

include thee,
as the wine must taste of its own grapes.

Steamer Clams

The entire four hour drive, I anticipate my first lunch or dinner on the coast.  It's always the same:  a pound of steamer clams with butter and a giant piece of garlic bread.
Does it get any better than this?

Dusk

The hummingbirds were really enjoying the feeders as dusk approached.  The winds and rains for two days probably left them in need of some refueling.

I Want To Know

Have you ever seen the rain?

Perspective

Climb up on some hill at sunrise.  Everybody needs perspective once in a while, and you'll find it there.  ~Robb Sagendorph

Fog on the Plains

The fog rolled slowly all morning along the High Desert.
Like flames licking the soil....I was enchanted by this view.

Dew You Love Me?

For you see, each day I love you more
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.

Middle Pyramid

I've always dreamed of seeing the Pyramids....these will have to do for awhile.
The view is fantastic the cliffs are a bit unnerving.

Coffin Mountain

Coffin Mountain Lookout

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.  Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.  The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.  ~John Muir

The name throws in a sense of mystery but the mountain itself is no way a death sentence.  Peaceful hike to the top of the mountain.  Fog was settled into the valleys from the lake.  Great day to clear my mind and relax.

Psilocybin

I love mushrooms, I'm fascinated by their shape and color.

I've never seen this one before...for now we call it the waffle mushroom.

This reminded me of a tasty donut.

I love how this mushroom looked like a turtle shell and was bigger than my foot.
