Blue Skies

When our friend Winifred came indoors again,
after looking around the garden in a blink of winter sunshine, she was singing.
"You sound happy, Winifred," I remarked.
I am a happy person.  I have everything I need.  That doesn't mean I have everything I want ~ but then that's a different thing entirely."
What a sensible way of looking at things.  As Ganhi said "Earth has enough for every man's need, but not every man's greed."

Gridstone

Flying home over Salt Lake City
I have never liked the sound of the old expression about "keeping your nose to the grindstone", but I do see the point of a rather similar saying which I heard for the first time recently:
"Life is a grindstone.  Whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends entirely upon the stuff you're made of."  ~Francis Gay, Friendship Book 1994

I love that as you look closer you actually see what makes up the beach.

Silversword

 Argyroxiphium sandwicense subsp. macrocephalum
is a rare plant, part of the family Asteraceae.
The silversword in general is referred to as ʻāhinahina in Hawaiian (literally, "very gray").
