Sweetness

Tennille

we rescued her from the animal shelter hoping to find a companion for our cat, The Capt'n.
Capt'n was mourning the death of our black lab and we thought he needed company.
Tennille filled a void in our life and everyday we treasure her.

White as Snow

The juniper berry rests in the snow, plump and ripe
I love Tennille's paw prints.
She hates the cold but loves the sun as it shines off the crystals.

Providing Warmth

The greatest invention ever made.
HEATERS
They allow me to dress like summer while it's -10C outside.

Out with Autumn in with Winter

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape
- the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter.
Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show.

Time

It's all about time, that's what the doctor said.
Scott's ankle needs 6 weeks of rest, no walking.
We have 2 weeks left.

On the Plains

I've driven by this old homestead a thousand times.
Today we drove along Highway 97 with the intent of stopping.
I love how the old windmill still stood tall and strong.
A little bruised and battered but still in working condition.

First Snow

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you....
In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other;
only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer,
quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.
~Ruth Stout
And as soon as it appeared...it was gone.

Left Over

The best part of fall????
Has always been strolling along...
to see what you couldn't see when the leaves were growing.
I love the last apple hanging from the tree.
An imaginary game of chicken with the other apples.
Once it realizes it has won, it too will fall to the ground.
The bird nests that seem hidden while babies grow, all exposed to the rain, wind and snow.

Colors

Some of the happiest moments we've shared have been spent camping along this River.
The Klickitat River has provided many memories including beautiful colors, laughing until our sides hurt, and screaming out loud at things that go bump in the night when we're the only people around and the sky is black as coal.  We've watched 40 turkeys walk into our camp without a care in the world.  We've come upon black bears drinking in the river and watched spawning fishing retire forever.  There is something about leaving electronics behind and drinking in nature.

November Past

When looking back, yours is the choice
To see and count life's ills,
Or dwell again, in thankfulness,
Recalling precious thrills.

Falling Feels Like Flying

funny how
fallin’ feels like flyin’
for a little while
you never see itcomin’ till it’s gone

Bloomin' Fall

I love trees and flowers that still bless us with life in the fall.
Perhaps patience is a virtue.

Wasco

Driving through Wasco, OR.
I loved the exposed brick on an old building.
Thank you stop signs, I might have missed this if I hadn't stopped.

Tugging Along

Growing up near the Snake River, tugboats were a common site.
Driving home along the Columbia I stopped and watched this tug head towards the sea.
Other great rivers add power to you,
Yakima, Snake, and the Klickitat, too,
Sandy, Willamette, and Hood River, too;
Roll on Columbia, roll On!
~Woody Guthrie
